Intercoolers At Your Hand’s Reach

Wednesday, December 20th, 2006

Intercooler

Intercooler exchanges the heat between two systems in an engine and thus maintains a constant temperature inside it. There are two types of intercoolers depending on the type of coolants used in them. Some of the intercoolers use air drawn from atmosphere as cooling agent; others use water stored in the system as the coolant.

The cooling action is very simple. Hot air from the turbo flows through the tubes of the intercooler. This heats up the tube. When a cooling agent like the air or water flows over the tubes, it absorbs the heat from the tubes and makes the air inside the tube cooler again. The heat thus drawn from the tubes is released to the atmosphere.

Brake kits

In reality, the force, which we apply on the brakes, gets multiplied and is transmitted to the tires and from there to the road. This multiplication of the force takes place by two processes, viz., the mechanical leverage and the hydraulic force.

Differentials – an answer to the wild wheels

Friday, December 15th, 2006

Differential

The differential in a car is intended to split the torque of the engine in two different ways so as to produce different speeds at different points. For example, when a car takes a turn, the inside wheels travel a shorter distance than the outside ones and thus both move at different speeds. As the wheels are interconnected, producing different speeds for different wheels would have been impossible without the help of the differential.
